Sportal!!!

Hey guys if you love sports you have found the right blog. These sports are from around the world and very ransom.

RUGBY

South African rugby chiefs have issued a statement apologising for comments following the second Test against the British and Irish Lions which they say appear to give the impression they condoned eye-gouging.
The world champion Springboks are still debating whether or not to appeal Schalk Burger's eight-week suspension after he was found guilty of 'making contact with the face in the eye area' of British and Irish Lions wing Luke Fitzgerald.
Burger's action - during the opening minute of Saturday's 28-25 second Test triumph in Pretoria - warranted only a yellow card from French referee Christophe Berdos.
He is suspended until late August, ruling him out of the third Test next weekend and South Africa's opening three Tri Nations games.
Initially, Springboks coach Peter de Villiers refused to criticise the flanker, but South African rugby union president Oregan Hoskins said: "We would like to apologise to the rugby community for the erroneous impression that acts of foul play are in any way condoned by South African rugby.

CRICKET

The proposed Southern Premier League involving teams based in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand looks increasingly unlikely to go ahead due to the crowded international calendar.
It had been hoped the Twenty20 tournament, which would involve the leading players from all three countries plus other international stars, would be held in October every year, starting from 2011.
But early discussions around the International Cricket Council's post-2012 Future Tours Programme (FTP) has made the three countries realise that no natural window exists for the tournament.
"The problem that we've had is trying to find space. We all know that there is a lot of international cricket," said New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan.
"We've got a lot of international cricket events like the World Twenty20. There's the World Cup and then there is the Indian Premier League which takes place in April-May every year."
"It is becoming increasingly apparent that if we want to maintain the current level of international cricket finding a space in October just appears to be really, really difficult," he told Radio Sport.

BASKETBALL

The Cleveland Cavaliers have completed a blockbuster deal to acquire Shaquille O'Neal from the Phoenix Suns.
Cleveland has given up centre Ben Wallace, guard Sasha Pavlovic, a second-round draft pick (top-40 protected) and cash to unite the future Hall of Famer with current NBA MVP LeBron James.
Cleveland general manager Danny Ferry told the Cavaliers' official website: "It is a really unique and rare opportunity to bring in a player of Shaq's calibre."O'Neal, 37, was drafted first overall by the Orlando Magic in 1992 but really came of age following a move to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1996, winning three consecutive NBA titles in a dynamic partnership with Kobe Bryant.
The success continued when he was traded to the Miami Heat in 2004, leading the franchise to its first championship two years later.
O'Neal, a 15-time all-star, was voted the NBA's MVP in 2000, and the top performer in the all-star game in 2000 and 2004.
He was also named the MVP of the NBA final three times in a row, equalling a feat accomplished twice by Michael Jordan (1991-93, 1996-98).

FOOTBALL

Chelsea on Monday revealed its determination to stand toe-to-toe with UEFA over the punishments which followed its rancorous response to the Champions League defeat at the hands of Barcelona.
Precisely a week after European football's governing body confirmed the Londoners would fight the bans handed out to striker Didier Drogba and right-back Jose Bosingwa, as well as an 85,000 pound club fine, the Blues revealed the reasoning behind their appeal.
A statement read: "We have today lodged an appeal against the UEFA bans given to Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa, and the fine imposed against the club."
"We believe these punishments are unnecessarily harsh given the circumstances."
"We would reiterate that the players and the club are acutely aware of our responsibilities towards setting a good example as role models and upholding the values of the game."

NETBALL

A dominant Donna Wilkins helped the Southern Steel keep its ANZ Championship netball play-off hopes alive following a comprehensive 58-49 win over the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Dunedin.
The former Silver Ferns shooter was an inspiring figure in a strong all-round team effort as the southerners put a dent in the talented Thunderbirds' aspirations of pushing for a top-two spot and a double-life in the play-offs.
It was a must-win for the fifth-placed Steel coming into the match but it made no race of it against the third-placed Thunderbirds.
The result pushed the Steel up into fourth place, just .four percent ahead of the Queensland Firebirds on shooting averages and meaning another do-or-die effort against the struggling NSW Swifts in next weekend's final round of matches.
It was the southerners who had marginally the better of the opening exchanges with both teams employing safety first tactics. There were few opportunities for turnovers as the respective attacking line-ups did a fine job of retaining possession. It was an absorbing rather than scintillating match-up early on with both teams realising the importance of the clash.
Respective goal attacks Wilkins and Natalie Medhurst were prominent figures in the opening quarter, the pair showing their creative abilities to find space and convert their shots accurately.
Australian import Megan Dehn, who was playing social tennis three weeks ago, but rushed into the team to replace the pregnant Daneka Wipiiti, provided the perfect foil for Wilkins. The intuitive play between the pair helped the home team take a 16-13 lead into the first break.
Four positional and personnel changes by the Thunderbirds, including the switch of the abrasive Mo'onia Gerrard to muscle up against Wilkins at goal defence, did not have the desired effect on the resumption.
Playing the smarter netball with little ball being wasted, the Steel gradually built on their lead. Defenders Megan Hutton and Katrina Grant did a fine job of confusing the Thunderbirds' attackers who were astray on several occasions in trying to find their shooters.
Dangerous on their speed through court, the Thunderbirds were stymied in this area as the Steel employed a solid through court defence. Frustrated with their inability to break the shackles, the Thunderbirds faced a climbing penalty count as the Steel with the better composure took full advantage.
A masterful hand by Wilkins, who was in the thick of the action and who got the better of the opposing defenders, gave the southerners the necessary impetus to head into halftime with a handy 30-24 lead.
An out-of-sorts Gerrard ended up on the bench for the third quarter as the Steel went on to completely dominate the much-vaunted Thunderbirds in this stanza.
Showing the greater desire and with all players contributing, the home team's pressure rattled the visitors. While Medhurst continued her fine form under the goal and defender Geva Mentor had her moments, they had little support as the Thunderbirds failed to fire.
Liana Barrett-Chase and Adine Wilson played with intelligence on attack and backed up strongly to defuse the presence of Natalie von Bertouch as the Steel used its greater share of possession to coast into a comprehensive 46-35 lead at three-quarter time.
The Thunderbirds came storming back, throwing everything into a frantic final charge. A decisive lift in tempo spurred the visitors to greater efforts as they chipped into the lead. But the Steel was quick to regroup as it doused any chance of late comeback with a forceful finish.
